Real Food Meal Plan – Week 20 2016

This week’s Real Food Meal Plan is all about easy family comfort meals.  Think macaroni & cheese, cheesy cauliflower soup, chicken adobo with rice and a simple fish tray bake.

Real Food Meal Plan Week 20 2016 includes macaroni & cheese, cheesy cauliflower soup, chicken adobo with rice and a simple fish tray bake.

A simple menu this week.  I am falling back on old recipes and freezer meals at the moment.  Old favourites are easy to make, and I know they will always be well received by the family (read The Princess).  I think I am so tired of dealing with an irrational teenager that making things I know she will eat is just one way of making my life slightly easier.

This week we ate:

Sunday

Chicken Adobo, served with steamed rice and Atchara pickle.

This was straight out of the freezer.  A fantastic Sunday night dinner.

Monday

Macaroni & Cheese, served with a green salad.

I don’t really have a recipe for this.  I cook a packet of pasta, and a packet of bacon, then mix everything together with a batch of my Simple Bechamel Sauce.  I put the whole lot into a large casserole dish, scatter fresh breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan over the top, and bake at 180C for about 25 minutes.

Tuesday

Slow Cooker Sausage and Lentils, served with crusty bread.

This recipe is still in development, and is not yet quite ready to share.

Wednesday

Creamy Cauliflower Cheese Soup, served with homemade sourdough.

Thursday

Roasted Slashed Fillet of Sea Bass stuffed with herbs, and baked on Mushroom Potatoes from Jamie Oliver’s The Return of the Naked Chef.  Served with Roasted Broccoli with Garlic & Anchovies.

I changed this recipe slightly, but it was still very good.  I used Pearl Perch for the fish, as it is currently in season.  I didn’t bother to stuff the fish with herbs, and I also didn’t make the recommended salsa verde to serve with the dish.

Bon Appetit!
